Apothecary Fairy Brings Handmade, Small-batch Vegan Soap + Skincare to Aspen Grove

NEW store alert! The “new kid on the block” (Block 100 at Aspen Grove) is none other than a modern, locally owned apothecary called Apothecary Fairy. While the owners, Elia Marie and Jeffrey Buice, are new to the shopping center, they’re veterans at creating handmade, small-batch vegan and gluten-free body care, candles, and home fragrances. They describe their business as “Effusive Beauty Homemade.” Their longtime customers and new fans are beyond excited that they have a storefront in Littleton, Colorado, and so are we!

Apothecary Fairy is located in Block 100, near VIBE FOODS

“I’ve been using Apothecary Fairy products for years – the quality and consistency are outstanding. Elia’s amazing products are made with love and healing, fairy magic. I can’t go without her Lavender Rosewater facial mist and Peppermint Tea Tree lip salve. Everything smells so good too, and truly makes a huge difference on the skin.”                                                                     -Lilien R.

Since 1996, they’ve been making fresh, small-batch vegan and gluten-free body care, candles, and home fragrances using clean and responsibly sourced ingredients in environmentally sustainable packaging. They promise to provide their customers with excellent service and a unique, fresh alternative to mass-produced skincare products that are free from synthetic ingredients, dyes, and chemical fragrances.

If you missed their grand opening and the Aspen Grove Block Party back in April, don’t fret! Apothecary Fairy is open every week Wednesday-Sunday; 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Come visit!

And after you tear yourself away from staring at their store’s beautiful, handcrafted sign, you’ll be swept away into a sea of soothing scents and offered complimentary tea and lemon water while you shop.

Helen Keller tells us, “Smell is a potent wizard that transports us across thousands of miles and the years that we’ve lived.”

This quote will hold true when you experience some of their mood-lifting scent combinations, including lavender cedarwood, lemongrass peppermint, and blood orange vanilla. And they have new hand-poured candles that are beautifully fragrant + phthalate-free and will make lovely Mother’s Day or graduation gifts.

20 Things about Aspen Grove

Did you know Aspen Grove has been greeting, hosting, and entertaining customers for twenty years! It seems like just yesterday that the corner of Santa Fe and Mineral was a blank hayfield with cows meandering and tractors making their own paths.

Fast forward to 2021 and Aspen Grove hosts nearly 50 stores, employs over 800 people, and has more than 10,000 cars visiting per day. One of the first Lifestyle Centers, Aspen Grove has earned a place in the hearts of our community through special events, friendly customer service. Our dedicated followers provide praise and suggestions, come rain or shine, and return with multiple generations.

Aspen Grove has evolved over the years. We stay current with trends, welcome new stores, and maintain the property at a higher standard. Our annual flowers have won awards for their beautiful blossoms, local senior homes bring field trips for viewings, and families use them for photo backdrops. In the fall, we have expanded our decor to include pumpkins and cornstalks and at the holidays we have evolved from 80’s turquoise and mauve to the current white lit trees…and some surprises coming this year!

We hope you enjoy this recap of highlights of Aspen Grove through the years and learn some new tidbits about our neighborhood Center. Check out our Anniversary Virtual Scrapbook to see photos and more details!

Over the last 20 years, Aspen Grove has:

  1. Grown from a hayfield to a nearly 300,000 sq ft shopping center. Local resident, Royce Smith, remembers working the hayfields before Santa Fe Blvd existed and still “works the land” by picking up surplus food from Panera and taking it to community families in need.
  2. Grand Opened in November of 2001 as a new trend of “Lifestyle Centers” and an exciting new development for the City of Littleton. At the opening. a loyal AG shopper won a trip to Bora Bora and the Wells Fargo Wagon road through!
  3. Achieved the record for the largest dog wedding ceremony with 178 pairs of dogs attending. The event was hosted in May 2007 and we still hold the Guinness World Record today!
  4. Announced the first Apple store in Colorado, and one of the first in the nation, while they were still just a rumor in the industry!
  5. Maintained a unique mix of national and local brands, many of which are still destinations at Aspen Grove today such as: Aveda, Eddie Bauer, J.Jill, Lane Bryant, Pottery Barn, Talbots, Williams Sonoma. A few of our store managers have worked onsite since opening!
  6. Hosted an average of 20 signature events each year creating a special gathering place for our community. A few of our favorites include: Family Films, Trick-or-Treat Streets, and 13 years of A Paris Street Market events.
  7. Celebrated every day moments and connected with friends and loved ones through an average of 200,000 cards sold at our Amy’s Hallmark store per year. Hallmark worldwide sells close to 6 billion cards in more than 30 languages!
  8. Crowned a dog-friendly mascot annually to welcome your furry family members to shop at Aspen Grove. Our dog-focused events support the local Humane Society.
  9. Surpassed 10,000 likes on Facebook while maintaining a close and connected relationship with our social followers during the challenges of 2020..
  10. Served nearly 200,000 caffeinated beverages and 71,500 bakery items to our shoppers at the Aspen Grove Starbucks alone! Plus, Starbucks supports the  community in need through donations of any surplus to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
  11. Offered 4,000 hours of job skills and bicycle service training for interns and community members through GoodTurn Cycles. They have also rent over 2,500 e-bikes each year since they opened in 2016!
  12. Provided a meet up location for pre and post-ride dining while accessing the South Platte River Trail and Carson Nature, just .1 miles from Panera Bread.
  13. Enjoyed sweet treats while shopping – from cupcakes at Butterscotch Grove and chocolates from See’s candies to 1522 peach milkshakes sold in just one month at Chick-fil-A.
  14. Delivered over 1,000 Love Letters to bring joy to front line workers and patients, each hand made by local families. Received hundreds of letters to Santa in our big red mailbox.
  15. Nourished many through our fabulous restaurant line up. Ted’s Montana Grill serves over 50,000 burgers, 75,000 half sour pickles and 400 pounds of strawberries per year, at the Aspen Grove location alone.
  16. Made a difference through long-standing community partnerships including dog adoption events with the Humane Society, blood drives with Vitalant, food drives with IFCS and more.

Meaningful Cycling. GoodTurn Cycles

GoodTurn Cycles is a retailer at Aspen Grove – but not your typical retailer. They are a non-profit electric bike shop. A social enterprise dedicated not only to helping people achieve better health but also providing job training to young people through an amazing internship program. GoodTurn Cycles operates in a way that puts the community first. Always.

Bikes are a hot commodity these days and our GoodTurn Cycles eBike shop has many styles and options to choose from. eBikes aren’t mopeds or scooters, and you don’t need a special license or insurance to ride. Most eBikes will top out at 20 mph, making them a safe and fun way to explore beautiful Littleton…and yeah, our state.

Their professional team can help you find the right bike for your lifestyle.

eBike rentals are also available. If you’ve always wanted to test drive an electric bike, you can rent a bike from their shop and cruise the Platte River Trail on one of their comfort cruisers.

GoodTurn Cycles has a bike service department for any type of bike in the back of their store. When you bring your bike to their shop for any service or repair, you are directly supporting their job training program.

GoodTurn Cycles also offers bike tours. Take a tour around downtown Denver and check out the vivacious RINO District or get outdoors and experience Colorado’s trails like a local on a mountain bike with pedal assistance. These guided tours are fun for all ages and skills.

The next time you’re at Aspen Grove stop by GoodTurn Cycles and learn more about their organization. When you support this one-of-a-kind bike shop with a passion for riding, you’re strengthening a movement that gives people who need a little help a path to gainful employment.

Littleton Museum

Minutes away from Aspen Grove you’ll find the Littleton Museum.

For more than 40 years, the Littleton Museum has served as the primary repository for the history, art, and culture of Littleton. This special place offers visitors a unique link between Littleton’s past and present. Located on 40 acres adjacent to Ketring Lake, it encompasses three exhibition galleries, a children’s interactive gallery, a research center, a lecture hall, and two 19th-century living history farm sites.

The 1860s homestead farm and the 1890s turn-of-the-century urban farm represent how people lived and worked during the early years in Littleton and the South Platte Valley. Museum staff and volunteers dressed in period-appropriate costumes, work on the farm sites, run the working blacksmith shop, and teach in Littleton’s first one-room schoolhouse, offering a “living history’ perspective to the museum visitor.

Check out everything this special museum has to offer.
